Shakyamuni Buddha Statues
It was over 2500 years ago that the historical Shakyamuni Buddha gave the world a radically optimistic and profoundly hopeful message; that each one of us has the ability to be completely free from suffering and experience great joy and happiness, our own true awakened nature.
Shakyamuni Buddha with hands in Bhumisparsha mudra also known as 'earth witness' mudra. Symbolizes the Buddha's enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, right hand, placed upon the right knee in earth-pressing mudra, and complemented by the left hand-which is held flat in the lap in the dhyana mudra of meditation, symbolizes the union of method and wisdom, samasara and nirvana, and also the realizations of the conventional and ultimate truths. It is in this posture that Shakyamuni Buddha overcame the obstructions of Mara while meditating on Truth.
The exact form of the statue is very important. Each statue is rich in symbolism, with sacred scriptures specifying the detailed iconography. Statues are made using the ancient ‘lost wax’ casting process and require the highest level of craftsmanship. We have gone to great lengths to seek out and work with a family of artisans who are both highly skilled and have great respect for the work they are involved in.
Designed to exact descriptions in the Buddhist texts and commentaries, each statue is a work of art and tool for self evolution.
Shakyamuni Buddha Statues are 6 inches tall, with Beautiful accents gilded in Pure Gold.
